The 3Dphone project aims to develop an all-3D imaging mobile phone. This report describes a 3D media browser, which is the first demo application of the project. Since media browsers essentially are lists, several 3D design alternatives are discussed. The suggested plate, amphitheatre and cylinder 3D layouts can also be used for other types of content, such as contacts or installed applications.

In real life things are never completely black or white. Fortunately, we are
surrounded by numerous nuances and in-between states that make life interesting. Still, in the digital world
we have grown so accustomed to ones and zeros that we do not realize that user interfaces (UIs) could be
much more than here or there, on or off, page 1 then page 2.

Following the trend of feature convergence in mobile handsets (phone, camera, mp3, etc.), the era of small projectors or “pico-projectors” will soon be upon us and within our phones. We have already seen mock-ups and real prototypes of these devices from companies such as Texas Instruments and non-embedded pico-projectors are available commercially in retail stores now. These devices offer “big screen” viewing experience from mobile devices.

Gestures are essentially movements made with our bodies. Gesturing is a rich and often subtle mode of communication that we all employ, often without even realizing it. From a profane gesture given in traffic to a slouch in our posture, gestures are used to convey emotion, confirmation and negation, or very specific and important messages (think of a crossing guard).
