As a Software Tester Intern in the Application Development team, you will participate in the quality assurance of next-generation applications and user interfaces for future BlackBerry devices. You will work alongside BlackBerry's application developers, UI engineers and designers.

Responsibilities

Perform daily automated and manual testing before our code is promoted to the platform build. Extend the testing with exploratory application testing when needed.

Skills & Qualifications

• Education level: Student in education program specializing in software testing
• Knowledge of software testing and the defect life cycle
• Fluency in English and Swedish
• Be able to work independently and communicate progress clearly
• Defect tracking systems
• Flexible mindset

Additional Assets that are a plus to have

• Experience in mobile device testing
• ISEB - ISTQB certificate in Foundation Software Testing

Senior C++ Developer / tech lead to shape the future of mobile media

In 2011, BlackBerry was excited to welcome JayCut to the tribe in Sweden. JayCut is based in Stockholm and currently looking for a highly creative and talented Senior C++ developer/tech lead.

In 2006 we disrupted desktop video editing by making it browser-based, easy and free. In 2013 we repeated this feat, now on mobile, with the acclaimed Story Maker product on BB10.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Now our Stockholm-based team is continuing the mission to create disruptive applications as a part of BlackBerry. Our current portfolio consists of two different BB10 video creation tools, and looking forward this will be expanded with new applications (that may not concern video/media). For this we're looking for a senior C++ application developer. In addition to being a developer you need to be perfectly comfortable with the tech lead role. You can be expected to take on certain leadership tasks and be a champion for a product, although you will not lead a team per se upon starting.

The team you will join consists of eight people who during childhood coded QBasic and won Lego championships when our friends were watching Fem myror är fler än fyra elefanter and Power Rangers. We live and breathe product development, and seek to lead rather than to follow. Can you lead, looking to both code quality, product innovation and execution? Apply and we'll see :)

RESPONSIBILITIES

You'll have full technical ownership of one or more of our applications, and a good deal of product ownership. Day-to-day work will revolve around actually building and supporting an application, primarily in C++ and QML. You'll interface with the developers in our team and in other offices, and have a bigger responsibility for syncing development efforts with them. It is expected that you can both make competent technical decisions and question existing ones.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Technical excellence and extensive responsibility are the two key ingredients here. You likely have 10+ years experience of developing applications in C++ or similar. You've gotten (or even better, taken) a larger responsibility over a product, and been looking to the whole rather than just your component. You may have led a small team, or would feel comfortable exploring doing so.

But above all you want to create excellent products and have developed the skills to do so. Because there is no substitute for passion!

C++ Application Developer

In practice we're now looking for a single, strong, application developer. Mad skills, highly creative and a slightly wicked mindset will make you fit perfectly into the team. A strong background in more low-level languages, preferably C and/or C++, is highly premiered. Finally you understand that a great product becomes great through a passion for details, and you have the passion to get these details right.

About JayCut

In early 2006 the to-be founders of JayCut started asking themselves if web video couldn't be about more than just consumption. We wanted to add creativity into to the equation. Nine months later, in December 2006, we had laid the foundation for what would come to be the world's most advanced technology for online video editing. The company was founded early 2007.

JayCut was acquired by BlackBerry in 2011 and is still based in Stockholm, Sweden. Prior to the acquisition JayCut.com had millions of minutes of edited video rendered per month. Companies that licensed the technology include some of the world's leading brands. JayCut and its technology also received some of the most prestigious awards in the industry. But our firm belief is that we've still just scratched the surface of what web video can be.

During the five years we created what became widely recognized as the world's best tool and technology for online video editing we learned a few things. One such thing is that software development is closer to an art form than a task. It may sound corny but we therefore continue to seek developers that are more like artists, to join our small group of eight likeminded.

The UX Lead role is the creative lead role on the Portfolio Design team for the area of User Experience

Responsibilities

• Managing delivery of UX portfolio design projects (internal and external) for the H2 timeframe - steering the creative direction for UX design.
• Delegation - Assignment of project ownership to team members as appropriate, to achieve an effective work load distribution
• Relationships - Builds and maintains relationships with internal partners and external UX design agencies, in order to deliver projects.
• Presenting and reviewing on-going design work and creative direction with the Director, Design Planning, for approval prior to review with Design Leadership Team.
• Champions creative excellence and best practices (workshop culture for example) for forward looking UX design

Skills & Qualifications

• 7+ years of applied experience in the field of interaction design in the field of consumer product design for mobile applications or services
• A graduate or post-graduate degree in Interaction Design, User Interface Design, Industrial Design, HCI or related field, or equivalent experience or directly-applicable training
• Applied experience in defining and applying a user centered design and multi-disciplinary design process
• Demonstrated success in creating world-class product design solutions, working within a design process and multi-disciplinary teams
• Ability to demonstrate long-term strategic thinking and short-term creative problem solving
• Solid understanding of core user interaction principles, ideally as applied to mobile scenarios

This is a position where we are looking for one multi talented designer in both Interaction Design and Visual Design. This full-time position is based in Munich and the designer will be responsible for the Games application and work in a cross functional team.

Qualifications

The successful candidate is an excellent communicator as regular communication with the Malmö office will be needed. The candidate must be able to understand core UI and visual guidelines and apply these in the Games application. The candidate must have experience from creating mobile user interfaces and can show projects where he or she has created specifications as well as visual assets and pixel perfect screens. Preferably also have a proven track-record of working closely with developers and product management in cross-functional teams and a strong interest in Games. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Adobe Photoshop and Abobe Illustrator, is required, preferably also Aftereffects.
